Captain Marvel leading actress Brie Larson may be the most powerful hero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe but that doesn’t mean she can’t admit when she’s had some help securing her achievements.

“I could not have made this film without them. They are the living embodiment of Captain Marvel,” the 29-year-old Larson said of her stunt doubles Renae Moneymaker and Joanna Bennett, who she took on stage with her to receive the golden popcorn award for the Best Fight category.

“Joanna and I actually grew up together,” Renae Moneymaker said as Larson relinquished the main stage microphone. “As young girls we wanted to be just like Lara Croft and G.I. Jane, so it’s a real honor to be a part of this character and hopefully pass along some of that inspiration and strength that those iconic women brought to us.”

The fight scene nominated from Captain Marvel was one which saw Carol Danvers pitted against Kree sniper Minn-Erva, played by actress Gemma Chan.
