Captain Marvel might be the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first female-centric film (and the “most powerful character we’ve ever seen,” according to MCU president Kevin Feige) but Natasha Romanoff AKA Black Widow will be the one with the biggest paycheck; actress Scarlett Johansson, who has played the premiere super-spy, assassin and founding member of the Avengers in six MCU films and counting, will reportedly earn $15 million for her upcoming solo film — a figure which puts her on even ground with fellow Avengers Captain America and Thor:
That salary is what Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth each earned for playing Captain America and Thor, respectively, in this year’s Avengers: Infinity War. Evans and Hemsworth also nabbed that same $15 million payday for Captain America: Civil War and Thor: Ragnarok, respectively, as well as the upcoming fourth Avengers film.
Although the MCU is now ten years into its operation, it’s interesting to see how Johansson’s payout compares to some of the other actors in their solo forays: Robert Downey Jr. ($500,000 for Iron Man); Chadwick Boseman ($2 million for Black Panther); Brie Larson ($5 million for Captain Marvel).
Did Scarlett Johansson put in the time and earn her lucrative paycheck? Let us know in the comments.
