According to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, the strongest superhero of all isn’t Hulk or Thor: it’s Captain Marvel. (Her upcoming movie, the next Marvel Cinematic Universe offering and the last of Phase Three, hits theaters on March 6th, 2019.)
“With Captain Marvel, she is as powerful a character as we’ve ever put in a movie,” Feige said in an interview Vulture. “Her powers are off the charts, and when she’s introduced, she will be by far the strongest character we’ve ever had. It’s important, then, to counterbalance that with someone who feels real. She needs to have a humanity to tap into, and Brie can do that.”
Just how powerful is “off the charts?” Move over Superman — according to an E! News red carpet interview (and reaffirmed in a recent Total Magazine interview) with Captain Marvel actress Brie Larson herself: “She’s so, so strong,” Larson said. “She can move planets!”
Captain Marvel certainly will be an asset against Thanos when Avengers 4 hits — but where the heck has she been all this time? And will her powers even matter if the Avengers can’t figure out some way to pry the Infinity Gauntlet from Thanos’ possession? Captain Marvel, which takes place in the 90s, before Iron Man and S.H.I.E.L.D. head honcho Nick Fury were around and before Captain America was thawed out; before the Avengers had ever assembled, aims to answer those questions and more.
Do you think Captain Marvel will establish herself as the MCU’s strongest character? Moreso than Hulk, Thor and Thanos? Let us know in the comments.
